The Continental Hotel in Budapest was full of wine glasses for three full days at the end of June. It was organized for the first time Winelovers Wine Awards the "Winelovers 100 – 100 best Hungarian wines” wineries entered 14 lots from 623 countries for the international wine competition that grew out of the selection.
The biggest strength of the Winelovers Wine Awards was that it invited highly qualified professionals from the international wine world to judge. The primary goal was that after the judging, the tasted items would also be in the spotlight abroad.
Winelovers Wine Awards winners
A total of 555 medals were awarded in the Gold, Silver, Bronze and Commended categories. Of the 555 winning wines, 62 received gold medals, 137 received silver medals, and 22 additional special prizes were awarded.
Among the wineries working in the Hajós-Baja wine region, in addition to the Antal Pincészet Cserszeg spicy, Kékfrankos and Pinot Noir batch, the Koch Winery Late Chardonnay also graduated with over 80 points. The Koch Winery Extra Brut his lot is the winner of the region, with a very strong 84 points.
Kunság wines can boast even better results. All entries received more than 80 points before the apparently sharp-eyed jury. Namely, Béla Winery, Font Pincészet, Frittmann Testvérek, Gedeon Birtok, Szentpéteri Wine Cellar and Vass Winery were also able to come home from the competition proudly. The Frittmann Brothers from the region Olivia Cuvée His 2021 batch reached 87 points.
