Entries are closed for the Italian Riesling

GROW du Monde is an unofficial world championship brought to life by the most dominant white grape variety in Central Europe. Which one is it? GROW is an acronym that consists of the most popular names for the variety: graševina, Italian Riesling and Welsh Riesling. But we can call it Riesling italico, grasac or laški Riesling - whatever we call it, this variety is widespread in Central Europe and the Danube basin. The competition provided a good opportunity to show internationally how diverse and exciting the world of Hungarian Italian Rieslings is. The organizer of the first GROW du Monde wine competition is Vinska kultura doo in Serbia, for which the Vino i fino wine magazine and several wine events, the organizers of several national and regional wine events, as well as Vinoliva Kft. Pécs Wine Bar publisher, also organizer of many wine events. 1st International Wine Challenge GROW du Monde On June 2022, 8, at the St. Petersburg Fortress near Novi Sad, a major international wine competition dedicated to Italian Rieslings, these varieties with extraordinary potential and rich history, was held, the organizers said in a press release. In June, the international jury of the wine competition looked for Italian Rieslings that stood out for their quality and authenticity.

The entry fee was € 40 per sample. For entries that included more than three samples from the same winery, the entry fee is only € 30 per sample. Two bottles of each named lot had to be sent to the organizers of GROW du Monde.

The wines were evaluated in five categories:

still wines,

sweet wines,

sparkling wines,

orange wines,

blends containing Italian Riesling.

The wines have been awarded silver, gold and double gold medals, the results of which will be announced soon.

The organizers' plan for the future is for the event to reach a wider audience. They would like an Italian Riesling conference as well as a festival where winemakers, merchants, sommeliers and wine experts meet.
