It just depends on our interests and determination, what we are curious about.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pet\u0151fi Island and Europe's largest connected cellar village are just two of the many attractions in Haj\u00f3s-Baja. There are many more admirable things, buildings, sites, trails and food that can make us want to explore the area. Since there is a confusion of abundance when it comes to attractions, we help you decide which ones are worth spending time on.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>An exciting place for lovers of legends<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The landmark of Haj\u00f3s is the St. Imre Roman Catholic church built in 1728, but there are also other noteworthy buildings here. After the large-scale renovation, the residence supposedly originally built for M\u00e1ria Theresa by the Archbishop of Kalocsa, and later the baroque castle of Haj\u00f3s, which housed an orphanage, was reopened to visitors.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lh5.googleusercontent.com\/y2gE9VOH1q3h-2YCE-UFOd3QAbnYRL4nINJOG4cya9lqVH8JV5Yomv5-FJIeWCt3MYAO_KsAgBqAxvOoy5tllnuJ5kVhcB9psA8brXN5wlv9uKUfZUmUgadVczs9D7PSDSNnapfR7Uw4z8qiUQ\" alt=\"Haj\u00f3s Baroque Castle, Haj\u00f3s\"\/><figcaption>Source: https:\/\/hajos.kornyeke.hu<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>There is a secret tunnel under the building that ends in a well. According to legends, other tunnels also exist, but they have not been found to date. The H\u00e1vos cellar wall includes 1200 wine cellars and cozy streets. Pincefalu can also be found elsewhere in the area, in Nemesn\u00e1dudvar and Cs\u00e1sz\u00e1rfalva. Szenth\u00e1roms\u00e1g t\u00e9r in Baja is a gathering place for a series of historical buildings and monuments. One of the most famous is the former town hall, which ceased to exist in 1873. The House of Hungarian Wines is hidden in the basement of the building, where wine tastings are also held. Interesting things in Baja are the Franciscan church, the adjoining convent, the T\u00fcrr Istv\u00e1n bridge, the synagogue, the Arad martyrs' memorial and the B\u00e1cskai Cultural Palace.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lh4.googleusercontent.com\/qlBoFYGJQSa3hYE8v0ZflQzn8m2xCBqgevq4tV6due9oxoYAmUlUDmC55XXQskmt_iC7zNq_eKScp9729mUUEKmGcr4r3cu74IQ_viFr17ZHObrjvs9nilQtvUkMHi3YRBjRi_awPxf9YvbFJw\" alt=\"https:\/\/kocsmaturista.hu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/baja-es-kocsmaelete-kocsmaturista-kocsmografus-07.jpg\"\/><figcaption>B\u00e1cskai Palace of Culture (Source: https:\/\/kocsmaturista.hu)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Main wineries and Danube Wine Route&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The landscaped house named after Walter Boldizs\u00e1r and his first wife is located in the center of Cs\u00e1sz\u00e1rt\u00f6lt\u00e9s, where tourists can get a taste of the everyday life of Swabian families. The settlement is famous for J\u00f3zsef Koch, who started growing grapes and making wine in the mid-1700s, and the Koch Winery still exists today. The Szemerey, Kov\u00e1cs, Sziegl, Knehr, Umenhoffer, Huber and Sch\u00f6n Pince, i.e. the main wineries in the area, host a series of wine events, so it is worth visiting them in addition to the J\u00f3zsef Koch winery. But it's not just these that are worth checking out, as those who walk along the Danube Boruta can get an insight into 40 wineries on both sides of the Serbian-Hungarian border. During this, the various wineries provide accommodation, gastronomic experiences and even cultural programs in addition to the wine tasting. The particular interest of the wine route is that the participants can collect stamps in their wine tourism passport, which is proof of which destination they have already visited.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Natural resources<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The landscapes of Haj\u00f3s-Baja are dominated by the surrounding Danube and Tisza rivers. This is one of the most beautiful regions of Hungary, a paradise for nature and outdoor lovers. The Gemenci forest is the largest contiguous floodplain forest in Europe. The Red Swamp nature trail on Cs\u00e1sz\u00e1rt\u00f6lles presents the wildlife of the peat bog, but it is also possible to walk along a nature trail in Kecel. We have the opportunity to do the latter on the shore of the fishing pond created from the mine ponds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>What is absolutely worth eating in Haj\u00f3s-Baja?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Only the freshest ingredients are used for the dishes. Due to the proximity of the Danube, fish is a characteristic ingredient of the region's cuisine.
